Fish are still being caught here at Manor Farm if you are prepared to brave the cold. A lot of pike have been coming out to legered dead baits on Booneys. Decent sized carp have been caught on Damsel and Carp Lake and a 28-4 has come out of Winters. Keep it simple in the winter months – a zig rig lower down in the water can work well, especially on Carp Lake. Try fishing with just a solid bag with pellets and a low pop up or try dead red maggots in the bag with fake maggot and corn as your hook bait. Location is the key in the colder months so spend some time looking for signs of fish, and don’t put in too much bait, remember that fish often follow the wind and tend to shoal up in the deeper spots. Don’t forget to wrap up warm!
